Description
Lima Guaco – Angela Rosera Mora
Angela comes from a family that has grown coffee for generations. Initially, Angela did not follow the path of a coffee farmer. She wanted to contribute to the community and therefore started teaching. But her love for the environment and ecology always permeated all her classes. And when she retired, she made a fresh start in coffee. She could not simply ignore the quality that her family had built up over the past years. And so Angela herself now also follows in the line of generations of coffee farmers family. Her land is not super big, about 1.5 hectares. However, during the coffee harvest season, her land is too big for her to do the job on her own, since she only wants the ripest cherries of the trees. And so she has five workers who support her with picking and processing the coffee. The coffee cherries are processed two days after they are picked using a washed method, by fermenting them in water for 24 hours. After this, they are carefully double washed. After this it takes about a week for the coffee to dry.
Angela has not completely let go of teaching. On her farm she now gives workshops to children to keep the coffee culture alive in the area and to inspire the new generation of coffee farmers with different techniques. And of course to share the joy of producing and growing coffee. Hopefully this joy will radiate all the way through, across the ocean to your cup of coffee.
